Covid-19 update

13 Mar 2020 by Martin cooper

Dear Families,

As a concerned Club, Melton Phoenix F.C. would like to take this opportunity to address the unfolding issue of the Coronavirus as it stands today. We are all aware that the State Government has asked us all to be vigilant to avoid the spread of Coronavirus. This is a serious issue that could possibly affect our members, their extended families and the Melton community as a whole.

As it stands today, we have not yet had any reported cases of Coronavirus, or even possible infection across any section of our club. Therefore, we will run this weekend’s training sessions and matches, as per normal, for those teams who are playing.

We ask that all members proceed with caution and if you are displaying any symptoms that could be attributed to the Coronavirus, see below, then please refrain from attending our Club in any capacity.

Please ensure you are taking these steps to prevent contamination such as, washing hands thoroughly, do not touch your face and sneeze and cough responsibly.

Further, we have received a number of questions over the last few days, and while it is not practical to respond to every question, we refer you to webites, such as https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victorian-public-coronavirus-disease-covid-19.

With this in mind, we would like to reassure the Phoenix Family that we are constantly reviewing this evolving issue and if there is any change it will be communicated through our website, social media avenues and TeamApp. Victorian Government along with our governing body Football Victoria have made it clear that gatherings over 500 people are to be prevented as of this Monday, due to having over 300 junior players now, this could be something that affects our Club.

Rest assure that we have our member’s safety at the forefront of any decisions made and we will keep you informed.

Thank you for your understanding.

MPFC Committee
