To our Phoenix Football Family,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that on Friday 3rd July, the Melton Phoenix FC executive committee made the tough decision to remove all Melton Phoenix FC teams from competition for the 2020 season.

To date, we have been relying on guidance from Football Victoria and the State Government bodies to assist us in making club decisions during the COVID-19 period. Unfortunately with some of our players, coaches and volunteers residing and/or working in these postcodes, we believe that the risk posed to our members and opposition teams has become too high and is not a risk we are willing to take.

Another factor resulting from these lockdowns was that some of our players, coaches and volunteers would be excluded from the club if we continue with the season. Following the Football Victoria principle of “Football for ALL, anywhere, anytime”, we did not want to compete without ALL of the PHOENIX FAMILY.
At Melton Phoenix FC we are one, so to exclude certain members, without it being their choice, does not sit well with us, one in….all in.

We understand we were in full swing for a season start and we reassure our members that we are working with Football Victoria to create our refund policy for all paying members and preparing plans as to what football at Phoenix will look like for 2020.

After this current spike is under control, we will attempt to get players back to football in some capacity. We will be looking at options such as training only, gala days, tournaments, SAP and pre-season trials for 2021. These are all ONLY options when it is deemed safe to do so. All possible football opportunities and our refund policy will be communicated through email to all of our members in coming months, please ensure you also check your spam folders.

This announcement is not the end of football at Phoenix, it is just a new way of football for now!
We trust that all of our players, coaches and volunteers and the broader Football Community understand and appreciate our decision and know how tough this was to make.
